After a successful project benefiting members of Weingart Center's transitional residential programs in December of 2017, it was decided that Eyes Not Forgotten would partner with one of their other programs in 2018, AmeriCorps's Hope for the Homeless Program. "In 2017, the program engaged 5,890 individuals and families, 3,355 have been connected to housing related services, 399 have been linked to crisis and bridge housing, and 128 have been placed into permanent supportive housing"
For this project, we will be filling 150 backpacks from our partner Olympia USA with hygienic supplies, nutritional snacks and bottled water. The bags will be handed out on February 28th on Skid Row in downtown Los Angeles. Also in the bags, will be material about resources and programs such as the housing programs through Weingart Center. The goal is to engage as many people as possible, to get them off the streets and into a program to better their future.
